Industry Insights from Analytica 2026 – Through Uniogen’s Lens

Our Sales Manager, Ida Erling, participated in Analytica 2026. Read her key takeaways and highlights from world’s leading trade fair for laboratory technology, analysis & biotechnology.

Analytica 2026 had three themes that stood out: Digitized Laboratory, Lab Automation & AI and Sustainability in the Lab. It’s clear that AI is moving from buzzword to practical enabler in the labtech world — and there are real opportunities for Uniogen to lead rather than follow.

QA and AI gaining traction

Quality assurance was a central theme. “On-device-audit” concepts minimizing PC dependencies were highlighted as a competitive strength area. Uniogen is already partially there with in-built software solutions.

Advanced Analytics for Readers

From mass spec to imaging, vendors are embedding AI to interpret complex outputs in real time. For Uniogen, this opens a path to:

  • Enhanced signal interpretation
  • Noise reduction
  • Automated anomaly detection
  • Result validation pipelines that support POCT and research use

Workflow intelligence

AI-driven suggestions for optimizing instrument use, sample handling, and work sequences were a recurring theme. With Uniogen’s compact plate reader architecture and integrated software, we’re well positioned to build “smart workflow assistance” directly into the device rather than relying on external systems. This is something worth pursuing.

POCT opportunities in diagnostics also present

Emerging optical labels, like upconverting nanoparticles highlighted by Professor Dr. Peter Luppa (Technical University of München, TUM), show how rapidly point-of-care testing is advancing — and how much room there is for innovation in sensitive optical detection. That is at the heart of what we do at Uniogen: more sensitive assays, instruments, and label technologies to benefit the need of early and more sensitive detection. It was also delighting to see that upconverting nanoparticles are gaining attention more widely.

Overall, Analytica reinforced that the market is moving toward smaller devices, smarter workflows and AI-assisted QC. Great validation — and inspiration — for the direction we’re taking at Uniogen.
