Uniogen Secures US Patent for Optical Breakthrough in Lateral Flow Readers
16.4.2025
We’re excited to announce that Uniogen has been granted US Patent for a groundbreaking optical innovation designed to elevate the performance of lateral flow (LF) test strip readers (US Patent No. US12228743B2).
At the heart of this invention is a novel optical component that creates a homogenized and freely formed excitation light spot, precisely focused across the entire test line area. This results in maximized signal intensity – ensuring that all bound label molecules are detected with the highest sensitivity possible.
What makes it exceptional
The patented technology
- Applies to all excitation light wavelengths – from ultraviolet (UV) to visible and infrared (IR) light.
- Is compatible with all detection technologies using excitation light like fluorescence, time-resolved fluorescence (TRF) and Upcon® (Uniogen proprietary photon upconversion technology).
- Increases significantly the detection accuracy and precision in LF measurements.
A corresponding European patent is pending.
